Gobal Oslo Music has the pleasure of presenting the Sidiki Camara Group, which comes to Salt
the same day as the band's smashing fresh album "Yafa" is released via Global Oslo Music's label Global Sonics.

The music on the album is from a commissioned work Sidiki Camara wrote on behalf of Global Oslo Music in 2018 on the occasion of the company's tenth anniversary. It is deeply inspired by traditional music from Mali, Camara's homeland, especially music created in connection with various rituals such as weddings, baptisms and other transitional rites.

The vocals and the traditional percussion instruments djembe, talking drum, calabass, balafon and string n'goni, sung and played by Camara, characterize the music, in combination with saxophone, guitar and bass as well as chorus, by excellent performers who today make up the Sidiki Camara Group .

Sidiki Camara is considered one of the world's leading percussionists. He has traveled around the globe with many great artists including Rokia Traore, Toumani Diabate, Boubacar Traore, Bill Frisell's New Quartet, and also as a solo percussionist with the national ballet in Mali.

Those who have followed Camara's career know him as an accomplished creative artist with several album releases behind him. Among his previous releases we find the solo albums “Nakan” (2015) and “Ayou Wele” (1997). He is also a widely used teacher of percussion and is
the founder of the cultural exchange program "Yankadi".

SIDIKI CAMARA GROUP:
Sidiki Camara - N'goni, percussion, vocals
Bendik Hofseth - saxophone, vocals
Jacob Young - guitar, vocals
Audun Erlien - bass, vocals
